1718 saw the birth of a new city, La Nouvelle-Orleans, now known as New Orleans. This city in, Louisiana, U S, built by a French Mississippi company, was named after the Duke of Orleans, Philippe II, the Regent of France at that time. It is now the biggest city of the state of Louisiana.
