Hawaiian Islands comprise of a group of islands in the central Pacific Ocean and lies west of San Francisco. There are more than 120 islets that compose Hawaiian Islands. The major percentage of the state’s residents lives on Oahu.
The original Hawaiians were of Polynesian origin and they came from the Marquesas Islands c. AD 400. Captain James Cook visited these islands in 1778 and he named them the Sandwich Islands. In 1900, Hawaii became a part of U.S. territory.
