Long Beach is a coastal community located in Southern California along the San Pedro Bay. It is also located 20 miles southeast of Los Angles. It’s considered a small to mid-size community with its population of 462,522. However, for its size the town is somewhat densely populated. Long Beach has been recently named one of this country’s busiest container port towns. This town was first incorporated in 1888, and is California’s fifth largest cities. It also has its fair share of tourist attractions for example: The Long Beach Museum, Aquarium of the Pacific, Farmer’s Market, Rancho Los Alamitos, etc. It takes in annually an estimated 950 million dollars in revenue in the tourist industry alone. Long Beach has also a diverse collection of cultural activities taking place annually such as Mural and Cultural Programs, Art and Culture classes, a very active Calendar of Events Program, and much more. They also have an organization called “Public Corporation for the Arts (PCA). So as you see they are very active in the Art Community. This city is also home to two colleges, the well known University of California at Long Beach as well as Long Beach City College. It has its fair share of education features and arts and culture features. As a tourist attraction it also very accommodating to family vacationers as well as honeymooners. It has a wide range of tourist sites to visit and it also ranks high as one of our most industrial producing cities. It is also easy access because it has it’s own airport, Long Beach Airport, which is situated between Los Angeles and Orange County it is called the “Easy in and Easy Out” Airport. So it has easy access through air transportation as well as land transportation. |
