Chicago, in northeastern Illinois, is a significant city as these figures would suggest: third largest city in the United States,
nearly three million people occupying more than 100 neighborhoods to compose 77 community areas,
about 200 art galleries, more than 200 performing arts venues, close to 7,400 dining spots, and an average of 40 million visitors each year.Clearly,
tourism is an industry to reckon with in Chicago must be the charm of the waterfront.
The city has 237 square miles of land with 26 miles of stunning lakefront courtesy of Lake Michigan, of which 19 miles are devoted to bicycle paths. In addition, 15 miles of bathing beaches and 550 parks are testaments that Chicago is serious about their recreations. Where it is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, Chicago has a lot to offer in way of leisure time.
Chicago has been called: The Windy City, the Second City,Chi-Town,the City of Big Shoulders,
and The City That Works.Among these monikers, wonder what could have possibly endeared to US President Barack Obama, whom he calls Chicago his home. |
