Phuket Vegetarian Festival – an annual event held during the ninth lunar month of Chinese calendar. This festival is accompanied with sacred rituals that are bestowed for some religious rites. During the festival, local residents of Chinese descent strictly observed a 10 day vegan or vegetarian diet. Their purpose is for spiritual cleansing and merit-making. Several sacred rituals are performed in numerous Chinese shrines and temples. |
