Phuket is an attractive island in Thailand. Talang or Tha-laang is the former name of this place. It is Thailand’s largest island which is 48 km in length and 21 kilometers at its widest. It is situated in the Southern part of the country. Aside from that this island is also surrounded by dozens of small islands. Phuket has rich history and culture. The island was one of the country’s major trading routes between China and India. This province is considered to be the countries wealthiest places from its tourism. Phuket has become Thailand’s premier destination of tourist and visitors, who would like to surf, swim and have a nice sunbathing. Even though Phuket was hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 the province has worked to get back as Thailand’s premier destination.
